My First Coupon Experience

At the beginning of November, I began clipping my first coupons. Ran into a few that I wanted to try out so I did! If you are reading this and the picture does not come up of my first haul, its because I wrote this post on my ipad and can't put my pic in yet....Its coming a promise.

So here is how it went,
Family Dollar:

Weekly insert coupon for 2 liter Coca-Cola for $.85. I bought two for a total of $1.70 for two sodas before tax. (I was so excited that it worked lol, I don't know why I was worried, it was just two items.)

Tide any size coupon for $2.00 off one, had 2 of these coupons. Family dollar had them on sale for $5, I used both of my $2.00 off coupons and got them both for six dollars. Great deal because laundry detergent is extremely expensive.

CVS:
Dawn dish detergent 10 oz on sale for $.99/$.50 coupon off of any dawn = $.49

I felt amazing after this haul so I decided to devote more time into finding more deals and each week/each day after doing so, I've been coming through the door with at least one item using a coupon every time I leave the house.

I will update this post with a cute little pic of my first haul and look for my great buys I've done since starting.

I know

I know I've been away, but as of right now, there is no one viewing my blog on a regular anyway so it really doesn't matter. I have a few updates and then a explanation of something new I'm going to do with the blog from now on.

***UPDATE****
Clint is shipping out to BMT for the Air Force in January. That leaves me with a lot of time to do my new hobby and to get ready for leaving my family to begin my journey with him.

New Hobby!!! I have begun couponing and I absolutely love it. I never thought that I would enjoy looking through sales ads and clipping coupons as much as I do. Extreme Couponing on TLC is a bit much for me but I love to see those women get their totals down to soooo low. I've worked magic just as they do but on smaller purchases of the same products.

So from now on, I will be having posts made each week about my deals I find and tips that I find help myself. There are many different strategies to coupon and get great deals, each person has to find their own niche that works for them.

Hope to get more followers by doing this because the coupon world has evolved into something much bigger than it was just years ago.

Gone Way Too Long

Sooooo I have been gone far too long. Last time I posted I was preparing for an interview. I did get a job, but man was that job not for me.

I began work on Sept 12 for 3 months of training to be a customer service rep at ACS with a major cell phone carrier. Not only was the company very disorganized, but I just did not feel comfortable in a call center environment. Not for me.

Good news is that DF (dear fiance') has gotten his ship date for Air Force BMT. January 17, 2012 will be the beginning of the rest of our lives. We are not getting married until he is done with tech school but I will be so happy to finally begin planning our wedding. We have been engaged 1 year in February and I was def hoping to be married by then.

So for my next posts, I will be talking about pre-planning and keeping you guys informed on what is going on with us and him at training.

***If there are any Air Force Wives or Fiances please let me know, I would love to get to know others that are going along this journey also.***

Interview Jitters

I've been so bad with blogging the past few days. Heard so much about that darn earthquake I really didn't feel like putting my two cents in.

Im at a Starbucks now preparing for an interview that I have with an investment company, Im sooooo nervous, never done anything like this. Working with animals I really didn't have to wow employers too much during the interview because it already takes a special person to work with animals.

So I applied to this company as a Health and Welfare Service Rep. I feel a. Uch cleaner job is needed for me right now as I wait to get marries and begin a new life with my hubby. I have read this book of how to answer certaon queations and Im just praying that I remember ese answers. I rehearsed in my car a little and really impressed myself with having an answer on the top of my head....hope thats the case when I get in that office!

Just wanted to update you guys! My babe is coming to visit today (did i mention that we were long distance?). Maybe I will post a new pic of us tonight.....MAYBE!!!

A Minute in Prayer

Lord,

Thank you. For all that you have done, great and small, thank you.

I pray for a restful night and a bright morning.

Protect your children, young and old, rich and poor.

Mend broken hearts, guide the lost, heal the sick, forgive us sinners. Bring us closer to you each day Lord as we deal with life's obstacles.

In your holy name

Amen.

Sunday Recap

I love Sunday. Its a day to refresh and start a new week. What better way to start it then going to church?!?!?

My pastor is amazing in telling a story before his messages and totally connecting the two in a spiritual way.

Today's Story:
A driver cut's another drive off unintentionally on the highway. The other driver becomes irrate and begins to curse and do all types of gestures to the mistaken driver. The irrate driver continues to curse and follow the poor guy down the highway and to a Chic-Fil-A. The man becomes worried about this other guy following him so he decides to tell the cashier that he wants to pay for the man's food. He then pulls his car through the driveway and watches the other driver's reaction. The man starts to get tears because he has noticed his actions did not deserve such great reward. The two men pull their cars beside one another and apologies are accepted.

Spiritual Connection:
Though you may not be WORTHY of reward, you are WORTH it. If this incident had not happened to these two drivers, the irrate driver would have never been put in a situation to humble himself.

After hearing that great sermon, I decided to go to the gym. I was going to start tomorrow but I was too anxious to wait. I loved it! Of course I loved the first day because I haven't gotten sore yet, but maybe by the end of the tomorrow I will have another answer to the question of "so how do you like the gym???".

Before my wedding (which should be mid next year) I want to lose a total of 30-35 lbs. I hope to do this by going to the gym and watching what I eat. I wear a size 14 dress now and hope to be a 10 or 12 by the time I start trying on wedding dresses. WISH ME LUCK!!!

I may post a few before pictures on here to record my results.

As I wind down tonight, I will enjoy saying my goodnights to the love of my life, a hot shower and my tv&bed lol. Goodnight.

A Minute In Prayer

Lord,

Thank you for showing just how amazing you are each and every day starting with the task of saving me through the night and waking me up this morning.

I ask that you continue to wrap your loving arms around all of your children, especially the people who need you more than ever right now. With a broken economy and families being torn apart, WE need you. We know that you aren't always available when we want you to be, but if we just talk to you, YOU will show up on time when we NEED you.

God bless the homeless, the sick, the broken-hearted.

A special prayer over my life Lord as I continue to seek employment after graduating from college. Touch the hearts of others to see the work, of my fiance' and I, that we may provide to establishments needing help.

Bless servicemen of the armed forces for they are fighting for their country and their lives each and every day. Protect the families of the deployed.

In these and other blessings we ask in Your name, AMEN.

Just One of Those Days

Didn't get to sleep last night until 4am this morning. I don't know why, just didn't get sleepy enough to lay there and lay still enough to drift off. I made a youtube video, watched others and browsed other things to keep me occupied during my restlessness.

I need more requests and comments to get me going on this thing. Today is such a boring day that I have abosolutely nothing to talk about other than ramble.

Guess I could plug my youtube channel here lol Go check it out! ----> http://www.youtube.com/kountryluv999.....make comments, responses, requests etc.

***My youtube channel is acutally a joint account for me and my fiance' so if there are any questions or requests you would like for us to make a video for, please comment!***

A Minute In Prayer

As a part of my blog I wish to have a nightly prayer to carry me into bed and into the next morning before my next post. I hope to help others through prayer and Faith in God.

Lord,

Thank you for a perfect day. You provided food and shelter throughout last night and today. Thank you for the rain, quenching the Earth's thirst for you know that it was greatly needed.

I pray tonight that you watch over us as we rest for another amazing and beautiful day tomorrow. Provide protection for the homeless, companionship for the lonely and comfort for the weary and guidance for the lost.

A special prayer is sent up for the family a friend of mine. Her brother has been missing for over two weeks, with no leads in where he may be. We ask for a safe return for him. You have a plan for everyone's life so this is no mistake, you make NO mistakes. Give her family stregth as they endure the pain and long nights of not knowing where their relative is tonight.

I pray for my personal relationship with you Lord. As I continue to grow closer and closer to you I wish to always stay in touch, knowning that you are watching over me in everything that I say and do.

Thank you Lord.

Amen.

Who Are You??!!?!??

Hmmmm, my first blog! I'm very excited to get going with it but I'm sure you are wondering, well "Who are you?!?!?". I am Tikara, a 2011 graduate from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University!! Aggie Pride!! I majored in Animal Science because I looooooove love love animals! My heart is warmed by the furry face of a mammal or the cute beady eyes of some bugs, sea creatures, etc lol.

Growing up in a small town, Franklinton North Carolina to be exact, I was a very quiet but an easy to get along with girl. I started to crack my shell a little around middle school by being a cheerleader and starting to have a group of friends that I enjoyed hanging around daily. Everybody is family in this town so getting in trouble was not for me, I was a good girl lol.

After graduating high school I knew I would go to NC A&T SU. I am the only grand-daughter on my father's side and the only grand-daughter to graduate college on my mother's side. That's truly a blessing. I have one aunt out of 5 that decided to go to college and get a Bachelor's degree, she has been my teacher and mentor all of my life.

Freshman year of college was very different of course for me as it is with anyone that transitions from a small town into college. I had a roomie from California, whom I did get along with for most of the time but as 2nd semester came along and the stresses of midterms and exams etc took its toll on me, I learned that I was a person that didn't belong with a roomie. I moved off of campus my 2nd year into a 3br apt with 2 friends. That went really well until I felt the need to have my own entire apt. My senior year I moved into a 1br loft that I loooooved. I miss that apt soo much, stayed there 2 years.

So enough of just me, lets talk about how my love life was. I say was because in college I was a completely different person than I am now. I loved being single in college and having my select few guys to talk "seriously" with. I enjoyed hanging with friends more than being with a guy lol. There was this one guy in particular that was very persistent in trying to win me over and change all of that. His name was Clint and I met him one day in my freshman dorm while hanging with some friends. We didn't speak, he just saw me and said from that day on he knew he wanted my attention and all of it lol.

So this guy made sure that we spoke often, he would take me to Walmart when I needed groceries since I didn't have my car on campus...yeah all of that changed when I did get my car 2nd semester lol. He would come to my room and play "Tunk" hahaha, anybody know about that card game??? Its the only one I knew how to play other than Crazy 8s. I guess I was lame for not knowing how to play Spades, and I still don't know how :-(

As I had all of my fun with my friends, he was still patiently waiting for me to snap out of it and want to get to know him on another level other than friendship. I must confess, he was the only person, even out of my friends to make sure that I was taken care of when I was sick, had food to eat when I didn't have any money and to truly be a friend.

After 3 years of friendship, I decided it was time to try it out and begin to date Clint. Our first year was pretty good, he graduated and left me at school, broke up because our faith wasn't strong enough in our relationship to do long distance but quickly learned that we couldn't live without one another. We got engaged on Feb 14, 2011...Valentine's Day Yay!!! lol. I graduated on May 7, 2011 and moved home with my parents until we are married. He is in the Air Force DEP and will hopefully be getting job placement and shipout date for BMT soon.

Stay tuned as I continue to tell my story.
